Infrastructure Optimisation One Day Workshops
IT Infrastructure is a strategic asset and the critical foundation upon which software can deliver services and user applications that a business needs in order to operate effectively and succeed. For many organizations growth and rapid developments in new technologies have resulted in data centre and desktop infrastructures that are overly complex, inflexible and difficult to manage with built-in costs that are not only high but somewhat fixed, regardless of changing business requirements.
According to Analysts more than 70 percent of a typical IT budget is spent on infrastructure such as servers, operating systems, storage and networking. Add to this the need to refresh and manage desktop and mobile devices and you have a unique set of challenges for IT infrastructure to face.
Telamon and Microsoft recently held the first in a series of one day workshops with several of our customers. During the day we discussed Infrastructure Optimisation and how using this model as a framework enables organisations to understand the strategic value and business benefits of moving from a “basic” level of maturity towards a more “dynamic” use of IT. As organisations progress through the various stages of maturity the value of the IT infrastructure becomes more clearly understood and the IT infrastructure (and the IT department) starts to be viewed as a strategic business asset and business enabler.
The workshop also delivered an update on associated technologies from Microsoft and services from Telamon that you can use to assist you in developing your IT infrastructure as a strategic asset.
Topics covered included Introduction to Infrastructure Optimisation; Operational efficiency; Zero-touch deployment; Avoiding the avoidable; Thin client computing; Identity and Access Management; Security; Federation and Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF)
